CAD Welding and Electrical Grounding

CAD WELDING AND ELECTRICAL GROUNDING – PROTECT YOUR BUILDING FROM POWER SURGES OR UNEXPECTED LIGHTNING STRIKES.

Burlic Electric offers residential and commercial electrical services in the San Fernando Valley area. We also provide welding and electrical grounding services.

The CAD welding method makes permanent electrical connections of copper-to-steel or copper-to-copper. Exothermic welding (Exothermic Bonding) is a method of joining conductors for grounding using molten metal. The heat is produced by the chemical reaction between aluminum powder and metal oxide.

Lightning strikes or power surges can have catastrophic consequences for a facility:

  • Personnel are at risk.
  • Critical equipment can be destroyed or damaged.
  • Data may get corrupted.
  • There are considerable costs associated with operational downtime and lost revenue, especially as industries become more dependent on increasingly sensitive equipment. Protecting equipment from lightning and dangerous overvoltage transients is essential.

WHY CAD WELDING?

  • In operation hours, your system can withstand repeated fault currents without failing.
  • A permanent bond that won’t corrode, increase in resistance, or fail.
  • Materials can be joined together: steel to steel, copper to copper, copper to stainless steel, copper to copper clad steel, copper to bronze, brass, or stainless steel, etc.
  • Welds ensure continuity by forming a solid bond around the conductors. Welds are larger in cross-section than conductors, so they can carry higher currents.
  • It has the ability to withstand high currents. The melting point of CAD welding connections is higher than that of copper (1082°C), so if the connection fails due to abnormal heating from a high fault current, the conductor will be destroyed.
  • It does not require an external power source or heat source
  • Can be visibly checked for quality

CAD WELDING EXOTHERMIC CONNECTION

By forming a molecular bond, welding eliminates the connection.

All electrical circuits have weak points, especially earthing circuits that are subject to corrosion and aging. The quality of the connections determines the strength of an earthing circuit’s ability to protect personnel.
